Hope in the Harbor

Hope in the HarborIf you have not previously attended Hope in the Harbor, Baltimore’s annual fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we cannot suggest strongly enough that you consider going to the 2013 event on April 18.

Chef Matthew was invited to participate in the inaugural Hope in the Harbor event in 2009, and we are proud to say that we’ve participated each year since.  The benefit continues to raise money for St. Jude in memory of Keeley Imel, a young woman from Ellicott City who lost a brave battle with cancer last year.  Keeley spoke at the 2011 event, and there aren’t really any words that can describe how touching and courageous her words were.

As you may or may not know, St. Jude never turns away a child based on his or her family’s inability to pay.  Their research has led to treatment protocols that are used throughout the world.  This is vital work, and it costs $1.8 million dollars a day to continue.

So – if you are free on April 18, and want to honor a beautiful young lady by eating some wonderful food from the area’s best restaurants, bidding on some amazing auction items and just generally having a great time, join us at the American Visionary Arts Museum for Hope in the Harbor 2013!  And make sure you stop by and say hi to Chef Matthew.
